Nowadays, in America, Christmas is less about its true meaning (the birth of Christ) and more about having fun and spending time with family and friends. But the good part about this is that people still feel the traditional bliss around Christmas time, witch means that deep down in their hearts they still remember what the real meaning of Christmas is. The history of the Christmas tree is believed to have evolved from this ritual, as well as from the Roman ritual of decorating trees with candles during the festival of Saturnalia.
